Microsoft hat sich für neue Produktnamen für das künftige Windows-Betriebssystem und die Officeanwendungen entschieden. Die nächste Windows-Version (bislang unter "Whistler" geführt) wird zu "Windows XP", Microsoft Office ("Office 10") zu "Office XP". Die Kürzung XP stehe für "Experience" und stehe sinnbildlich für fortgeschrittene Leistungsmöglichkeiten, wie Web-Anbindung über verschiedene Endgeräte.
