The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Premieres in April 2026
Illumination and Nintendo have announced the title of their new animated film based on the Super Mario Bros. universe: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Universal Pictures will release the film worldwide in April 2026.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the Super Mario Bros. universe. It follows the 2023 film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. Both films are produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. The film is being co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and will be released worldwide by Universal Pictures.
Returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic direct the film from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score. The returning voice actors are Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Additional characters and their voice actors will be announced at a later date.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to premiere in the US and many other global markets on 3 April 2026, with a Japanese release scheduled for 24 April 2026. Select territories will release the film throughout April.
