European Federation of Game Archives, Museums and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP) has thus once again expanded its network of European cultural heritage institutions. The museum in Wrocław is the result of the RetraGraInia initiative, which was founded in 2010.
Initially focusing on promotional activities at festivals and conventions, the initiators established a visible presence in Poland's retro and gaming scene and participated in over 60 events. In 2017, the initiative evolved into the permanent Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era.
"The creation of the Museum of Games and Computers of the Past Era is a prime example of the vitality of gaming cultural heritage”, says Andreas Lange, COO of EFGAMP. “Its bottom-up approach demonstrates the high level of commitment among fans of classic games, who develop and operate a cultural offering whose appeal extends beyond the community".
Jakub Rzepecki, President of the Board at GIKME Foundation says: “Joining EFGAMP is a significant milestone and a natural step in our development. For us, it is not only an honor but, above all, a real opportunity to exchange expertise with European institutions that have shared a similar mission for years. Collaboration within the federation will certainly support the further expansion of our museum in Wrocław and opens the door for joint projects - for example during our flagship event - Games & Vintage Days, to which we warmly invite everyone this October 2026”.
The museum is already the second member of EFGAMP from Poland. In total, the umbrella organisation represents over 30 institutions and companies that which collect and preserve digital gaming culture, on a European and global level
