Metallica to Perform Across the Fortnite Franchise
Metallica will not only headline the new, 4th season of the Fortnite Festival, but will also become the first band to headline the other Fortnite experiences.
Since Epic Games expanded its blockbuster battle royale game 'Fortnite' with spin-offs such as a racing game (Fortnite Rocket Racing), a creative game (Lego Fortnite), and a music game (Fortnite Festival), the company has unveiled one world star after another for the music spin-off. The launch weekend was followed by Lady Gaga in Season 2 and Billie Eilish in Season 3. Now, Metallica has been confirmed as the headliner for Season 4 of the Fortnite Festival.
Unlike the first three seasons, the integration of Metallica goes far beyond the 'Fortnite Festival' and includes the main product and all spin-offs of 'Fortnite'. For example, there will be special outfits for James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo in Battle Royale and Lego, or a special track in Fortnite Rocket Racing.
Music continues to be at the heart of the collaboration between Epic Games and Metallica, in the form of a custom Unreal Engine-built music experience called 'Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury', which will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of June. The experience was created by Magnopus, which has been creating VR experiences for the past ten years, including for films such as 'Blade Runner 2049' and 'Coco', and for shows such as London Fashion Week and Dubai Expo 2020. In the music industry, Magnopus has worked with Michael Bublé and Sebastian Yatra, as well as helping production companies film series such as Westworld and Fallout.
