With a new concept in July 2025, the Nexus Nerd Rock Festival wants to bring rock and metal concerts, gaming and a Medieval market together in Leipzig. The festival emerged from the Nexo - Nerd Expo in 2022, then without the music aspect.

Leipzig's gets a new event that combines games and rock music. From 11 - 13 July 2025, the Nexus Nerd Rock Festival under organiser Rick Wölbling will take place at the agra Messepark Leipzig.

In 2022, the event celebrated its launch under the title "NEXO - Nerd Expo" and without live concerts. A total of 2,000 visitors were onsite on the two-day expo. Now apart from the new concept, name and scope, the event will take place on three days instead of just two. The whole event will be organised by a team of volunteers from the respective scenes.

Three concepts are packed together in the new festival. An in-house Nerd & Gaming Convention will take place on a total of 10,000 square metres of indoor space. In total, the event plans to accommodate over 150 exhibitors on the entire site. There will be an Indie, Freeplay & Retro Gaming Area with up to 39 indie studios, an Artist & Merch area and a Cosplay Area. In addition, the indoor area is home to four stages and a separate hall for pen & paper, tabletop and trading card games.

The Rock/Metal Festival on the Titanium Stage is the unique selling point of the event. Up to 17 bands with 3 headliners are supposed to perform there from the genres of metal, alternative rock, medieval/folk and pop-punk. The stage will have a separate access and wristband control.

Additionally, the event will feature a medieval market & outdoor area, including a Wasteland area modelled on the Fallout game series, a laser tag arena and a food truck area.

Nexus says they are the world's first event to combine a nerd/gaming convention, rock/metal festival and medieval market on a single site.
