Hooded Horse has signed Fogpiercer, a game from Mad Cookies Studio in Slovakia. It is a train-based card battler.

Hooded Horse, a publisher specialising in strategy and tactics games, revealed another new game joining its portfolio during the Convergence showcase: Fogpiercer, developed by the Slovakia-based studio Mad Cookies (founded in 2020 by four friends). Fogpiercer is a post-apocalyptic roguelike deckbuilder in which players must manage a train beset on all sides by bandits, fog and "overly eager train enthusiasts". It is due to be released on Early Access in 2026.

"Fogpiercer has a great setting and innovative train-based gameplay, we think fans of roguelike deckbuilders are going to love this one," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "We're honored to be serving as their publisher."

"Joining Hooded Horse is a dream come true," says Fogpiercer Lead Designer Krystof Klestil. "They've been incredible from day one. It's given us full confidence in having everything we need and more to make Fogpiercer into the best version of itself."

Players must guide their train through a world map with multiple paths. Hooded Horse: "In the harsh world of Fogpiercer, the train is the deck and player build choices determine which cards are used when fighting off hordes of unreasonably angry bandits who don't want them reaching their destination. Each carriage holds a unique set of cards, and new cards are added to the deck through upgrades and extra carriages. Fighting off those pesky bandits will require skill and planning. Positioning is key, and all battles take place on a square grid with the train front and centre. Play the right cards at the right time, and enemies can be tricked into attacking each other, pushed out of the way so their attacks miss, or even knocked in front of the train so they can be crushed under the wheels." During the journey, players will have to make the right choices at the right time. Make sure to stop at stations to heal up and purchase new carriages or upgrades. There is also a roguelite meta-layer with plenty of unlocks and progression to make subsequent runs easier.

This adds the game to a portfolio that includes Manor Lords, Against the Storm, Endless Legend 2, Old World, Norland, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, and 9 Kings (together with Instinct3).  Hexxen: Hunters from Ulisses Spiele Digital, Drill Keeper from ShoulderByte, Menace from Overhype Studios and Super Fantasy Kingdom from Super Fantasy Games are also set to be released in the coming months. All of these games originate from Germany. Hooded Horse has also taken over the distribution of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew from Mimimi Games.
