When Nexon joined Embark Studios in 2018 (in German), it was already clear that this was more than just a strategic investment. At that time, Nexon brought Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund onto the company's board of directors. Almost seven years later, and undoubtedly bolstered by the global success of ARC Raiders, which sold over 12 million units, Söderlund was appointed Executive Chairman by the board. The appointment took effect immediately.

In his new role, Patrick Söderlund will work closely with CEO Junghun Lee, who took the helm at Nexon at the end of 2023 (in German). Together, they will usher in the next phase of growth. The stated goal is to accelerate global growth and transform the creative direction.

“Nexon has all the assets to unleash dramatic growth – incredibly talented people, iconic franchises, large and committed player communities, and best-in-class live service capabilities,” said Patrick Söderlund. “This is an enormous opportunity, but one that will require deep focus and discipline. Junghun and I are aligned on what needs to happen and I’m ready to get to work.”

“Patrick and I are fully aligned on transforming Nexon,” said Junghun Lee, President and CEO of Nexon. “He’s built studios, attracted the industry’s best people to work with him, and shipped massive global hits. That’s exactly what Nexon needs right now.”
