Berlin-based indie studio Nightshift Game Development and Passau-based publisher 3RG Three River Games have released Varthos - Heir to the Throne in Early Access.
Nightshift Game Development and 3RG Three River Games have launched Varthos - Heir to the Throne in Early Access for €24.99. The game was previously known as Heir to the Throne. It is an action RPG featuring hack-and-slash and roguelite elements. The game features single-player and co-op modes for up to three players, directly controlled heroes with no fixed classes ('you are what you wear') and randomly generated dungeons. Regarding the length of the Early Access period, they state: "This is of course based on the game's success and how fast we can implement the feedback from our community. For now we're roughly planning with one more year of development in early access."
The game is being developed by Nightshift Game Development, an independent Berlin-based studio. The core team consists of three veterans (Johannes Böhm, Torsten Räbiger, Alexander Haß) of the Berlin gaming scene who have over 50 years' collective experience in the gaming industry. Varthos: Heir to the Throne is being published by 3RG Three River Games, a brand of Bildner Verlag GmbH based in Passau. The young publisher's portfolio includes Airport Baggage Simulator, Shop Simulator: Supermarket, Shop Simulator: Pet Shop, Shop Simulator: Waifu Pillows, Michelangelo: Stonemason Simulator, Star Ores Inc. and Varthos - Heir to the Throne. The focus of 3RG is usually on casual simulation games.
