Media Control hat erste Informationen zur Entwicklung des Games-Markts im ersten Quartal 2006 vorgelegt. Während der Konsolenbereich vor allem vom Handheld-Segment profitierte, blieben die Umsätze mit PC-Software stabil.

Die Umsätze im Konsolenbereich legten im ersten Quartal 2006 um zwei Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr zu. Dies geht aus einer Auswertung von media control hervor. Zurückzuführen ist die positive Entwicklung vor allem auf den guten Absatz von Handheld-Software. Die mobilen Konsolen machten laut media control etwa 25 Prozent der Verkäufe aus. Der PC-Spielemarkt entwickelte sich stabil. Das meistverkaufte Produkt im Zeitraum Januar bis März war "Die Sims 2: Open For Business".
