The launch of Albion Online on Xbox doesn’t come as a complete surprise. As Christoph Hombergs had already hinted at in an interview with GamesMarkt in early March, the inclusion of the fantasy MMORPG in Game Pass was an interim step towards a proper console launch, which hadn’t yet been officially announced at the time.
As announced by Sandbox Interactive, part of Stillfront, this is a gaming experience fully adapted for the console. Above all, however, it will be possible to seamlessly continue playing existing accounts and characters on Xbox.
According to the company, this marks the biggest step yet in the cross-platform development of Albion Online. Sandbox Interactive had previously made Albion Online – which launched in Early Access in 2017 and has been a hit as a free download for PC since 2019 – available on mobile in the summer of 2021 (in German). With the Xbox release, the Berlin-based studio is now bringing Albion Online to a console for the first time.
