Seal.Games Broadens Its Reach With Its First Steam Release
Seal.Games, based in Kiel, has announced Ponchorado for Android, iOS and Steam. This is the company's first game to be released on Steam after 20 years of focusing on browser and mobile games. The game is also intended to mark a creative new direction for the company.
Kiel-based Seal.Games has announced the upcoming release of the hand-drawn roguelite survival game Ponchorado for iOS, Android, and Steam. After 20 years of browser and mobile game development, the studio is taking a creative new direction with Ponchorado. The game features satirical humour and hand-drawn animations inspired by 1930s cartoons, offering a relaxed yet gripping roguelite experience. Ponchorado has already been honoured with the Audience Award at the 2025 Baltic Games Fest.
"We have been making games for twenty years. First browser games then mobile games. The free to play mobile sector has become increasingly difficult for small studios and we wanted to try something different. From a business perspective Ponchorado is a risk. Emotionally it is already a win for us because it is simply fun to make. The hand drawn characters and animations are full of heart and humor. If we can bring even a brief smile to the faces of our players the entire project has been worth it", says Boris Zander, founder and CEO of Seal.Games.
In Ponchorado, players take on the role of Poncho, a stuntman who has been forgotten and must fight his way through the chaotic remains of an abandoned Western film set. The mobile version will be released on 25 February 2026 as a free-to-play title, while the Steam version will be released in the second quarter of 2026 as a premium game with an expanded feature set, including local co-op and more than one hundred levels.
The development was funded by the Games Promotion Programme of the State of Schleswig-Holstein, which received funding from the European Union. Seal.Games is a label belonging to Seal Media GmbH, an independent game developer and publisher based in Kiel. It was founded in 2005 by Boris Zander and Timo Lembke.
