Sidekick Publishing has announced a publishing partnership with Berlin-based studio Randwerk for their open-world roguelike game, Wanderburg. Unveiled at the 2025 PC Gaming Show, the game's trailer has since amassed over 470,000 views. It is already on over 250,000 wishlists, and the last closed playtest attracted 126,000 participants.
Drawing inspiration from Mortal Engines and Howl's Moving Castle, Wanderburg is a minimalist open-world roguelike set in a world of rolling castles. Players control a castle that devours everything from rival castles to entire villages. By doing so, they unlock new weapons, expand their castle and explore the procedurally generated map. Between playthroughs, they can unlock new vehicles, weapons and artefacts. A demo is available until 2 March as part of Steam Next Fest.

"Our journey with Randwerk began with initial talks last year, and it has been incredible to watch Wanderburg evolve since then. The massive response from players during the December playtest was a clear signal that the game is gaining real momentum," said Melvin Frank, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Sidekick Publishing. "As a trusted developer collective, Randwerk has created a distinctive title that fits seamlessly into our portfolio of replayable, creator-friendly and community-driven games."
"We are thrilled to see Wanderburg grow alongside Sidekick Publishing," said Till Freitag, co-founder of Randwerk. "Since our playtest in December, we’ve been working hard to translate player feedback into numerous improvements and exciting new content. We can't wait to share it publicly for the first time during Steam Next Fest."
