The renowned composer Gustavo Santaolalla will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 21st edition of SoundTrack Cologne. The two-time Oscar winner recently made a name for himself with the soundtrack to the series "The Last of Us". He will present his work on the German Netflix series "Liebes Kind" at the award ceremony.

The multi-talented musician Gustavo Santaolalla receives the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's SoundTrack Cologne film music congress.

The 72-year-old can look back on a long and successful career. The Argentinian composer worked with Alejandro González Iñárritu for a long time, for example on "Amores Perros" or "Biutiful". He received his second Oscar in 2007 for his collaboration with the Mexican for the soundtrack to "Babel". He won his first for the heartbreaking score to "Brokeback Mountain" the year before. His other awards include another Golden Globe for his work on "Brokeback Mountain", 2 Grammys and 19 Latin Grammys.

Most recently, he impressed with his contribution to the video game "The Last of Us" and the HBO series with Pedro Pascal based on it. He showed his connection to his homeland in the Netflix mini-series "Break It All", which deals with the history of Latin American rock music.

He also worked with Netflix on the German series "Liebes Kind". As part of the 21st SoundTrack Cologne, he will present the series with director Isabella Kleefeld, producer Tom Spieß, music supervisor Christoph Beck and others on 3 July. The following day, he will hold a masterclass with the Oscar-nominated composer Gary Yershon. At the end of Santaolalla's celebrations, he will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on 5 July. The Neue Rheinische Kammerorchester will perform his best-known pieces at this event.
