Gameforge Congratulates Karlsruhe University Esports Team
As a main sponsor from the very beginning, Gameforge congratulated the successful university esports team KIT SC eSports on its tenth anniversary. Both sides benefit from the partnership, not least because many former esports players now work at Gameforge.
Why would a publisher support an esports team that plays another company's game? In Gameforge's case, there are many reasons. The most important one is probably HR. The Karlsruhe-based publisher does not support just any commercial esports organisation, but KIT SC eSports. It is a university esports organisation, and KIT stands for the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. This makes it Gameforge's ‘home team’, so to speak.
Gameforge has been the main sponsor from the very beginning. KIT SC eSports is also very successful in sports. Among other things, the team has already won 10 League of Legends championship titles in the Uniliga and also took part in the European Championship in League of Legends in 2024.
For Gameforge, it's not just about getting attention for its own brand, as is usually the case with sponsorships. "What began as a small collaboration has developed into a genuine partnership, both in the field of e-sports and beyond," says Tom Burck, Chief Officer Customers & HR and member of the Executive Board at Gameforge. "Many of the players are now colleagues, which makes us particularly proud."
And Nico Rausch, CEO of KIT SC eSports, adds: "For us as a student team, the long-standing partnership with Gameforge is something very special. It has not only helped us to develop as athletes, but also opens up exciting perspectives for our members beyond e-sports. We are delighted to be able to celebrate this anniversary together."
