AdHoc Studio's debut game, Dispatch, surpassed one million sales on Steam and the PlayStation Store only ten days after its release. "It's always a little strange when the numbers get so big you have to talk about them," says Michael Choung, Executive Producer and CEO at AdHoc Studio. "A week ago, we were just as thrilled watching Let's Plays and reaction videos. But milestones like this matter. They mean AdHoc will be able to make more story-driven episodic originals, and we hope it means it'll be easier for other devs to do the same. Hard to believe we're only halfway done."
Created by former Telltale Games writers and directors, Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy featuring plenty of narrative choices. It is released in four instalments, each containing two episodes. Episodes 5 and 6 were released yesterday, setting the stage for the season finale on 12 November. The number of simultaneous users (CCU) playing Dispatch on Steam demonstrates the success of this episodic format, particularly given the one-week interval between episodes — especially compared to previous Telltale releases. Following the release of the first two episodes of Dispatch, a peak CCU of 12,707 was recorded. Following the release of episodes 3 and 4, this figure increased to 65,999. Following episodes 5 and 6, this figure doubled again to reach 131,074. Not to mention the influence of Critical Role, who hosted a Dispatch One-Shot at the end of October.
