Dataspelbranschen Reflects Positively on Scholarship Program
The first King & Swedish Games Industry Scholarship concluded with a final game jam held at King’s offices in Stockholm. The Swedish association, Dataspelbranschen, has expressed satisfaction with the program and is already eager to create further opportunities for newcomers to the industry.
A total of 25 women and non-binary participants successfully completed the scholarship program. In April, they met with their mentors, and throughout the year, they participated in five masterclasses covering various disciplines. Additionally, participants were divided into groups and attended one of three major events: the Nordic Game Conference, gamescom, or For Devs. The program culminated in December with a collaborative game jam bringing everyone together at King’s Stockholm offices.
Dataspelsbranschen appears to be planning a continuation of the initiative. In its review, the organization stated: "We are looking forward to continuing to create new opportunities for more people to get their first foot into the games industry." Companies that are interested in participating in the next scholarship should get in touch.
