On March 1, SWR will launch the third chat-based Tatort game, “Sashimi Spezial.” The format seems to have established itself as an extension of the TV movie among the target audience.
On March 1, ARD will broadcast the new case from the Tatort team in Ludwighafen during prime time, and this episode of the popular crime series, “Tatort: Sashimi Spezial,” will also be extended by the responsible broadcaster SWR with a chat-based game. After 2023 (in German) and 2024, this is already the third time that SWR has extended a Tatort story with a chat game.
The game Tatort – Sashimi Spezial was written by Nicole Spörle and Schiar Simo. The film scenes were produced by Fahrwerkfilm, directed by Jonathan Westphal, and coordinated by Selina Schnell. In addition to Ulrike Folkerts and Lisa Bitter as detectives Lena Odenthal and Johanna Stern, the cast also includes Hans-Jochen Wagner, Kailas Mahadevan, Jürgen Hartmann, Ariane Alter, Jonathan Baranowski, Mo Issa, Jovana Jovic, Sira-Anna Faal, and Gregor Hägele.
The game itself is another collaboration between SWR X Lab and the Tatort editorial team. The game is browser-based, accessible, and can be played on all devices free of charge.
"Tatort" (which means "crime scene") has been broadcast since 1970 and is a series of self-contained crime thrillers in which dozens of investigative teams have been used over the years, depending on the TV production company responsible. It is a joint production of ARD, ORF and SRF. To date, over 1200 Tatort films have been produced and broadcast.
