The Gamecity Hamburg Prototype Funding 2026 Awarding Committee comprises the following individuals: Michael Schade (CEO and Co-Founder of Rockfish Games), Valentina Birke (Director of Indie Arena Booth), Karsten Schwaiger (Head of the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media's Media and Digital Economy division), Nina Müller (Goodgame Studios' VP of Publishing & Development Services), Jonas Hüsges (COO of Daedalic Entertainment), and Dennis Schoubye (Head of Gamecity Hamburg).

Applications for Gamecity Hamburg Prototype Funding 2026

This year, Gamecity Hamburg is offering €400,000 of prototype funding for games. Applications are open until 30 March. Eligible applicants include founders, start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) registered in Hamburg.

On the initiative of Joachim Ebmeyer (CDU), Holger Mann (SPD) and Dr Andrea Lübcke (B90/Grüne), members of the Bundestag have formed a cross-party parliamentary group on games to institutionalise dialogue between politicians and the industry. It’s not the first such group in the Bundestag.
