Fifth Bavarian GamesFestival Starts on 30 May
The fifth Bavaria-wide GamesFestival will take place from 30 May to 1 June 2025. The main festival venue is the FatCat at Rosenheimer Platz in Munich - with indie games, playtests, game design workshops and more.
The participatory GamesFestival aims to celebrate gaming culture in all its facets. The theme of this year's festival is 'The Unseen', which refers to the unseen aspects of gaming. The festival will explore the diversity of untold stories, the art of world-building and routes into the gaming industry. All GamesFestival25 events are free to attend, the main festival venue is the FatCat at Rosenheimer Platz in Munich.
There will be gaming stations for indie games, a gaming exhibition, guided tours, a pizza playtest by IroxGames and game design workshops as well as accessibility in gaming, cosplay, pen and paper, a Just Dance competition, a world building workshop, the presentation of the GamesPreis25 award, and talks on the topics of getting into the games industry and hate campaigns in the games industry.
Each GamesFestival is curated and co-organised by a youth festival management team under the age of 27. This year the Youth Festival Management Team consists of Fleur Häusler, Tim Sommer and Anna Kober. GamesFestival25 is organised by the ComputerSpielAkademie (CSA) and the Bayerischer Jugendring. The CSA was founded in 2019 by the JFF - Institut für Medienpädagogik Medienzentrum München and is financially supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Work and Social Affairs, the Stadtjugendamt der LH München and Games/Bavaria.
