Build a Rocket and Mapshot Create Fortnite Experience for L'Oréal Men Expert
With Derma Control: Skin Defense, L'Oréal Men Expert is aiming to reach the young, male target group through its own Fortnite experience. The experience was realised by Build a Rocket in cooperation with Mapshot, which also organised an event with eight streamers to mark the launch.
According to the companies, the collaboration between L'Oréal Men Expert and Build a Rocket was brokered by the sports marketing and sports rights agency Sportfive, which is also the parent company of Build a Rocket, a company focused on gaming and esports. "Gaming is one of the most powerful cultural forces when it comes to how younger generations interact with brands. Together with Build a Rocket, we have developed an experience in which our Derma Control products become part of the game – as tools that are actively used in gameplay. This is a form of brand storytelling that feels native to the platform and really resonates with the target audience," says Sebastian Schlett, Brand Business Leader at L'Oréal Men Expert.
"Virtual world activations enable brands to be more than just visible – they become part of the culture, with experiences that invite interaction and encourage creativity," adds Alexander Albrecht, Managing Director of Build a Rocket. The experience was technically implemented by the Belgian studio Mapshot, while Build a Rocket was responsible for the concept and execution. The Cologne-based agency recently implemented experiences on Roblox for two non-endemic clients, the DFL and StudioCanal's film Woodwalkers, among others.
To mark the launch of the tower defense game on Fortnite, Build a Rocket also organised a Twitch event in which four German streamers competed against four British streamers. Eligella (Elias Nerlich), Niklas Wilson, Eldos, Vadeal, Josh Samsoj, Tom Ferguson, Ailbhe Lower, and Arki Technology took part.
