Im Rahmen der Quartalsbilanzierung von Vivendi Universal zeigte sich Vivendi Universal Interactive als einer der absoluten Gewinner.

Die Publishing-Division von Vivendi Universal hat im 1. Quartal insgesamt einen Umsatz von 938 Mio. Euro erzielt. In den Kerngeschäftsbereichen, zu denen Teilsparten wie die B2B-Division nicht eingerechnet werden, steht ein Umsatz von 608 Mio. Euro zu Buche - ein Plus von vier Prozent. Grund für die gesteigerte Performance ist vor allem die Gamesdivision. Das Umsatzplus von 18 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr begründet Vivendi Universal Interactive (VUI) mit den Releases von "Crash Bandicoot XS" und "The Scorpion King für GBA sowie den weiter "guten" Abverkäufen von "Crash Bandicoot" für PS2 und "Spyro The Dragon" für GBA. Besonders in Europa zeigt sich laut VUI der PC-Titel "Empire Earth" von Sierra weiter erfolgreich. Als Ausnahmeerscheinung gilt zudem Blizzards "Diablo"-Serie. Blizzard arbeite zudem intensiv am Release von "Warcraft III", den VUI als Topseller präsentiert. Insgesamt erwirtschaftete VUI im abgelaufenen Quartal ein Plus von 20 Prozent im EBITDA. Die Publishing & Education-Sparte konnte im Umsatz ein Plus von sechs und im EBITDA ein Plus von 41 Prozent für sich verbuchen.
