Holoride Files for Protection Against Creditors
The Munich-based VR specialist Holoride is insolvent. The district court responsible has granted the company's application and opened provisional insolvency proceedings.
However, it is uncertain how Holoride will develop in the course of the insolvency proceedings. What is certain is that the Munich Local Court opened provisional insolvency proceedings on 24 April and appointed lawyer Hubert Ampferl as provisional insolvency administrator.
In fact, the VR/XR pioneer has been relatively quiet in recent months. The company's last major press release dates back to 31 August 2023, when it announced that it was developing a VR drive-in cinema app together with maxdome. Information on how well the actual core product, the in-car entertainment platform called Holoride, sold was never provided. Sales of the platform for Audi vehicles started in November 2022, and in January 2023, Holoride also presented a retrofit package at CES that made the VR solution compatible with all vehicles, regardless of brand and year of manufacture.
Holoride was founded in Munich in 2019 and was able to build on strong financial support from Audi right from the start. In 2021, Holoride secured ten million euros in fresh capital as part of a Series A financing round to finalise product development.
