Together with the SZ Institut of Süddeutsche Zeitung, YouGov Germany has identified the top family brands of 2024. Netflix is ahead in the overall ranking, while Nintendo beats the competition in the consumer electronics sector.

No dedicated gaming brand made it into the top ten of the overall evaluation, in which over 1000 brands were considered and evaluated, but three video streaming companies did. Netflix even came first with a score of 2020, ahead of IKEA and Disney+. Amazon Prime Video made it into eighth place with a score of 1985. It is also worth noting that toy brands also made it into the top ten with above-average frequency: Lego came in fourth, Playmobil fifth and Schleich tenth.

In the consumer electronics segment, the games companies were able to score points: Nintendo leads the segment evaluation with a score of 1881 points. It is followed by PlayStation (1823), Apple (1749), Xiaomi (1660) and Xbox (1437). Other brands in this category include: Acer, Alienware, Asus, Bang & Olufsen, Beats by Dr. Dre, Blackberry, Bose, Canon, Casio, Chromecast, Dell, Fitbit, Fujitsu, Gigaset, Grundig, Hisense, HP, HTC, Huawei, Kindle, Lenovo, LG, Medion, Nikon, Nokia, Oppo, Panasonic, Philips, Ring, Samsung, Sennheiser, Sharp, Sonos, Sony, Surface, TCL, tolino, Toshiba, Yamaha. However, no information was provided on the respective score.

It is also interesting to take a look at the other areas, even if they are irrelevant to the games industry. For example, in the car market, Audi is ahead of BMW, Volkswagen, Skoda and Mercedes Benz; in financial services, Amazon Pay is ahead of Apple Pay, Google Pay, Trade Republic and Klara.

In the retail sector, Amazon beats the competition from dm, Otto, Action and Drogerie Müller; in the sports brands sector, Adidas is followed by Nike, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger and The North Face; and in the fashion retail sector, H&M is ahead of Zalando, Ernstling's family, Zara and C&A.

The analysis of the categories, including the top five brands in each, is available to download from YouGov Germany (in German).

The YouGov BrandIndex is based on over 950,000 online interviews and is representative of the German population aged 18 and over. It was conducted by YouGov Germany in collaboration with the SZ Institut, a subsidiary of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Within a year, respondents were able to evaluate a total of 1013 brands daily. Up to 30 brands were queried per interview.
