GSA Users Watched 1.3 Billion Hours on Twitch
With an average of 105 million users per month and 15.6 billion viewer hours, Twitch has once again published impressive figures in its annual review. Twitch estimates its own market share at 60%. Only in the top games category is there no news, but the indoor football leagues went big in GSA.
With a total of 1.4 billion hours, streams of GTA 5 remained the most watched. The rest of the top 5 for 2024, which Twitch has now revealed, reads like a who's who of gaming evergreens: League of Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, Call of Duty – no surprises or new releases. It will be interesting to see whether another long-running favourite gets a new boost in 2025 thanks to a movie release. Minecraft was watched for 379 million hours in 2024.
According to its own calculations, these results give Twitch a market share of over 60 percent in live streaming, confirming its position as market leader. However, this cannot be independently verified.
Data on usage in Germany, also published by Twitch, is particularly interesting. In the GSA region, 1.3 billion hours of gaming content were consumed on Twitch. At the same time, over 49 million hours of content were streamed in the GSA. This puts Germany and the region at the top of the EMEA rankings in terms of hours streamed, and in second place in terms of consumption. Unlike globally, the most streamed title in Germany was not GTA 5 but League of Legends.
Incidentally, the most successful streams in Germany were the Icon League final on the eliasn97 channel, the Season 1 final of the ballerleague on the channel of the same name, and the Stream Awards 2023 & 2024 on RevedTV. So, at least in this segment, a real novelty has established itself on Twitch: indoor football on a small pitch.
