Berlin's House of Representatives is elected on 20 September 2026. What are the positions of the parties in regards to the German gaming industry? (Abgeordnetenhaus von Berlin/PlayStation)
2026 is a strong election year in Germany, with several Federal States holding state elections and a bunch of others holding local elections. One of the most important states for the German games industry, Berlin, is having state elections for the house of representatives as well, on 20 September 2026.
Berlin is not only the Federal capital, but also its own city state and one of the biggest gaming locations in Germany, with a joint funding board with Brandenburg (the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg) with one of the highest funding amounts per year. Berlin also has one of the highest density in newly founded studios, is the seat of German games association game and therefore place of many political and cultural games programs. It also is currently organising the opening of a House of Games sometime in the future.
As such, we have combed the electoral programs of the democratic parties in the election for their stance on gaming in the capital. Not all parties have already made their electoral program public; we will therefore update this article with more info when its available.
