The 3D asset marketplace Jinxxy is changing its terms of service in regards to adult content. As is the case with several other content platforms, among them those for games as well, Florida company Jinxxy has received demands from payment processors and credit card companies to stop selling adult content, they say. “Recently, we’ve received notice from our payment processors that they are going to cut us off unless we crack down on the explicit adult content being featured on the marketplace”, Jinxxy sent out in a statement on X. As a result, Jinxxy is now wholesale banning all depictions of “sex toys, genitalia, anuses, arealas, nipples etc”, as well as the mention of these things in store pages. These new guidelines stand out as being especially strict; banning the depiction and description of mere sex toys, for example, goes beyond what many other stores had to ban.

The full statement of Jinxxy, as posted on X.

The Jinxxy storefront lets artists and companies sell assets for VRChat as well as for VTubers, both fields that are especially popular with queer and marginalised online spaces. VRChat does not ban the depiction of explicit consenting sexual content and as such is a popular online meeting place for people looking to express their sexuality online.

Jinxxy is far from the first marketplace that is hit by such restrictions, even outside gaming. In 2024, Gumroad cited pressure from several payment processors in their decision to ban most adult content. SubscribeStar has been hit in September last year. Itch.io is still battling the aftermath of payment processor’s interference, gradually relisting adult content as they can, while Steam is prohibiting the inclusion of explicit acts in added content like updates and DLC.
