Paradox Interactive Buys Haemimont Games

Paradox Interactive has acquired Bulgarian developer Haemimont Games to strengthen its position in the management genre. In the past, Haemimont Games has worked with Kalypso Media, THQ Nordic and also Paradox.

Paradox Interactive of Sweden has signed an agreement to acquire all shares in Haemimont Games. The acquisition of the Bulgarian company is a further step in Paradox' strategic focus to grow within the management games genre by building an internal capability that complements the group's current studio organisation.

"They bring with them a close-knit team with long experience in developing management games, with many well-received projects in their portfolio. We have great confidence in their team and leadership, and our focus now is to ensure that they can continue to make great games under new ownership."

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price at this stage. The acquisition will be financed with cash on hand and is expected to close within a few days. A performance-based earn-out will be paid over the next few years. Haemimont Games will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Paradox. The current management and team will remain in place and the studio's current projects will continue to be developed.

Haemimont Games was founded in 1997 and has developed several games for Kalypso Media in the past, including Omerta - City of Gangsters, Tropico 3, Tropico 4 and Tropico 5. The action RPG Victor Vran was published by EuroVideo Medien. Jagged Alliance 3 (2023), published by THQ Nordic, was also developed by Haemimont Games. The company previously worked with Paradox Interactive on Surviving Mars (2018).
