Activision hat seinen Langzeit-Spielelieferanten Treyarch übernommen und will damit die hauseigene Produktentwicklung ankurbeln.

Activision hat den Entwickler Treyarch Invention übernommen. Treyarch, 1996 gegründet, hat derzeit etwa 140 Mitarbeiter, aufgeteilt in fünf Entwicklerteams. Der kalifornische Entwickler soll als 100-prozentige Tochterfirma in das Activision-Team integriert werden. Zwischen Treyarch und Activision besteht bereits seit längerem eine fruchtbare Zusammenarbeit, die sich mit erfolgreichen Titeln vor allem im Action- und Sportgenre (u. a. "Tony Hawk's") manifestiert. Derzeit entwickelt Treyarch für Activision eine ganze Reihe von Spielen, darunter "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x", "Spider-Man The Movie" und "Minority Report". Activision erhofft sich von der Übernahme vor allem einen deutlichen Schub für die Inhouse-Produktentwicklung.
