The sequel to ChromaGun has been announced at IGN Live 2024. It's called ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard. The game from DCP award-winning Nuremberg indie studio Pixel Maniacs is scheduled for release in 2025.

Pixel Maniacs from Nuremberg have officially announced ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard. The direct sequel to the original ChromaGun, released in 2016, will expand both the gameplay (shoot paint, mix colours, and solve puzzles) and the story, while keeping the vision of the original in mind. The game was revealed at the PM Studios Showcase at IGN Live 2024. ChromaGun 2 is published by PM Studios from the USA. Its predecessor was self-distributed by Pixel Maniacs.

In June 2022, FFF Bayern funded the development of the ChromaGun 2 prototype with 200,000 Euros. This was followed by a MegaGrant of 20,000 Dollars from Epic Games and funding of 292,575 Euros from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). In addition to working on game projects, the studio is also committed to the location. Pixel Maniacs maintains contact with politicians, does networking in Franconia, has set up a co-working space and shares its knowledge. The indie studio, led by Benjamin Lochmann, won the Studio of the Year award at the German Computer Game Awards 2024, also known as the Deutscher Computerspielpreis (DCP).
