Durch die Preisreduzierung und den Release von "Gran Turismo 3" haben sich die Absatz- und Umsatzzahlen der PlayStation 2 in Australien deutlich nach oben entwickelt. Nach dem Price-Cut auf 499,95 australische Dollar (rund 555 Mark) hat Sony Computer Entertainment innerhalb von sieben Tagen 27.000 Konsolen absetzen können. Insgesamt belaufe sich die "Installed Base" an PS2-Nutzern jetzt auf 150.000.
