Alex Garland to Adapt Elden Ring Into a Live-Action Movie
Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have announced the film adaptation of the blockbuster game Elden Ring. Alex Garland will write and direct the film. The timing is not yet known.
Based on a story by George R. R. Martin, the creator and author of The Song of Ice and Fire, Elden Ring is certainly one of the game worlds that has enough material for a film adaptation. And that is exactly what is now available, as publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have announced.
Many details about the project are still open. However, Alex Garland, who has already successfully realised several projects for A24, will act as writer and director. The film's producers also include Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich (DNA), as well as Vince Gerardis and George R. R. Martin.
Elden Ring is one of the most successful new gaming IPs of recent years. More than 30 million units have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2022. On 30 May, Bandai Namco Entertainment will release the co-op game Elden Ring Nightreign. A version for Switch 2 is also due to be released later this year. The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition also includes the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, which was released in 2024.
