At today's start of the NewImage Festival in France, Bavaria's XR industry is also presenting its best. The FFF Bayern has funded several projects that are award nominees, presenters or partners at the event.

The 7th NewImage Festival from 24 to 28 April 2024 starts today. The event for the XR industry is hosted by the Forum des Image in Paris. And the Bavarian XR industry is part of the French event.

The FilmFernsehFonds (FFF) Bayern funded XR Experience Emperor, which won the Venice Immersive Achievement Prize at the Venice International Film Festival, is now part of the competition at the NewImage Festival in Paris and in the Immersive Selection at the Festival de Cannes in May. Directed by Marion Burger and Ilan Cohen, the project was produced on the German side by Reynard Films in co-production with Atlas V and France Télévisions and in collaboration with the award-winning French studio Albyon. In Germany, FFF Bayern is involved as main sponsor with production funding of 100,000 Euros.

Several other FFF funded XR projects are part of the NewImage Festival as well.  The interactive XR floor projection Salzsammler will be presented at the XR Development Market on site. Here, children can influence the game world by moving around the playing area and interacting with game objects. The FFF has funded the development of the project by Bayreuth-based Salzsammler Studios with 30,000 euros and is also subsidising the presention on-site with distribution funding.

Nine more experiences are also part of the NewImage Distribution Market, which is dedicated to the studios finding distribution partners for their works. These projects are:

  • Aurora Continuum by Govar, München
  • i wanna be ur dog and Mind the Brain! by mYndstorm Productions, München
  • Insects & Us by R5 Region Five Media, Fürth
  • Munich Oktoberfest: The Official Game by K5 Factory, München
  • VR Biolum by Emperor von Reynard Films, Agawang
  • VR-B.E.S.T.: VR-Training "Oscilloscope" by Usaneers, München
  • Wildnis AR by Lisa Eder Film, Passau

Furthermore, the two studios Straightlabs from Grünwald and Govar from Munich are on-site as XR Partners, presenting their company and projects directly.
