Blizzard Collaborates Again With Wetter.com to Promote WoW: Midnight
The launch of World of Warcraft: Midnight was accompanied by another unusual marketing campaign in Germany, once again in collaboration with wetter.com.
The launch of World of Warcraft: Midnight was accompanied by another unusual marketing campaign in Germany, once again in collaboration with wetter.com.
At gamescom 2025, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled World of Warcraft: Midnight, and to draw attention to the announcement, the publisher partnered with the weather service wetter.com. A voidstorm spread across Cologne, with the city becoming the eye of the storm. This was realised via an interstitial on the website and app. For the launch of World of Warcraft: Midnight, this unconventional marketing campaign was expanded further in collaboration with wetter.com, who produce the weather report for the TV channel Pro7 as well as offering advertising slots.
From 3 to 5 March 2026, the weather forecast on Pro7 was presented together with advertisements for World of Warcraft: Midnight, with promotions for Blizzard Entertainment's eleventh expansion of the MMORPG preceding and following the weather report. Presenter Anna Gröbel wore a custom-made Blood Elf costume created by cosplayer Cinderys while introducing Midnight features and presenting the game world of Azeroth.
