Nach Informationen der Blu-ray Disc Association soll das Next-Generation-Format neben Filmen auch Games integrieren sowie eine Verbindung zum Internet ermöglichen.

Die Blu-ray Disc Association hat weitere Spezifikationen für das Next-Generation-Format publik gemacht. Nach Informationen des japanischen Branchendienstes Asia Pulse soll die Software auch Games, zum Beispiel mit Bezug zum jeweiligen Film, integrieren. Darüber hinaus soll eine Verbindung zum Internet ermöglicht und eine große Palette an Untertiteln und Sprachfassungen geboten werden. Die Blu-ray-Disc bietet bis zu 50 GB Speicherkapazität.
