Compared to the previous year, more projects are benefiting at the EU level, but they are receiving less funding on average. While 41 games and immersive media projects received a total of €7.7 million in funding in 2024, 42 projects received a total of €6.98 million in 2025. The distribution is also different this time around.

Germany in particular is receiving a significantly lower amount this year. Specifically, €455,495 is going to a total of three projects. In 2024, six productions from Germany received €1.3 million in funding. This time, Reynard Film can look forward to receiving €200,000 for “The Origin of Blindness,” The Good Evil will receive €196,805 for Woods, and Curvature Games will receive €58,690 for The Amusement: Whodunnit? As in the previous year, Austria is represented by one studio: Bongfish will receive €200,000 from Brussels for Earthshift.

Most of the funding in this round will go to Denmark, which is home to a total of eight of the funded games. Together, they will receive a total of €1.43 million in funding. The second-largest amount of money will go to Spain, where seven studios will receive a total of €1.26 million. Far behind, but still ahead of Germany, are France (4 projects; €619,445), Poland (4 projects; €614,053), and Italy (5 projects; €598,959).

The complete list can be viewed at the EU or the Creative Europe Desk organizations. However, one must be careful with the classification. Only the coordinating studio is ever mentioned. For example, Hamburg-based Fabian&Fred is involved as a partner in the production “Fay” and, according to the German Creative Europe Desk, will receive €52,000 for this.

However, the project itself is being coordinated by the Danish studio Mannd, which is why the funding is shown in full there.

It is also interesting to note that demand for funding continues to rise. This time, a total of 320 companies from the EU applied for funding. That is an increase of 28% compared to the previous year. The total amount requested was €48 million. This means that only a fraction of the applications could be approved.
