On November 30th, the new video game museum GAMM celebrated its opening in the heart of Rome. From now on, it will be open to visitors 7 days a week and will entice them with its different levels: Gammdome, PARC and HIP.

The Gammdome is, of course, the centerpiece of the new museum and embodies the so-called 4E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education & Entertainment. PARC Path of Arcadia deals with the golden age of coin-op gaming, which took place from the 70s to the early 90s. HIP Historical Playground focuses on gameplay and traces the historical evolution of gaming.

GAMM is a wonderful celebration of video game culture that showcases a journey for preservation digitally and physically in a modern space.  With its iconic setting within the heart of Rome, the Museum will also be a forum for entertainment, hosting cultural events and occasions. We very much look forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe and sharing pieces of game history", says Marco Accordi Rickards, Director of GAMM.

New Games Museum Project GAMM to Open in Rome

On November 30th, GAMM – Game Museum, a new video game museum project, will open in Rome. The start-up Kabuto, which is the operator, is backed by industry veterans and the team behind Vigamus The Video Game Museum.

The new museum will open in a prime location in Piazza della Repubblica, Rome. The opening is scheduled for November 30, immediately following the Checkpoint - Festival of Interactiv Experiences, which will also take place in Rome.

GAMM – Game Museum is designed, operated and further developed by Kabuto, a start-up founded at the beginning of the year by experienced managers from the industry, as well as the team behind Vigamus The Video Game Museum.

The Vigamus Museum is a flagship project in terms of the cultural and artistic significance of games. According to its own figures, over two million people have visited the museum since it opened in 2012.

"GAMM - Game Museum aims to highlight the cultural and artistic value of video games as interactive works allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a path based on the combination of history, technology, and the exploration of gameplay", says Marco Accordi Rickards, Director of GAMM and CEO of Vigamus Group.

And Luisa Bixio, CEO of Milestone and Co-Founder of Kabuto, adds: "GAMM will be an immersive museum space, where video games as a cultural medium can be explored from the origins to the latest evolution, visitors from all over the world will be able to discover a new location in the heart of Rome."

According to Kabuto, GAMM will open seven days a week and span approximately 700 square meters, divided into two levels and three thematic areas.

The former museum project Vigamus has since grown into an entire group of companies, the Vigamus Group, which, in addition to the museum, also operates websites and the training institution Vigamus Academy. The latter is currently also setting up a business in Germany.
