Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Hits Game Pass Today
Following Diablo IV, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the second Activision Blizzard game to be added to Xbox Game Pass, just in time for the launch of the shooter's fifth season.
Microsoft has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for consoles today, in time for the launch of Season 5. This is the second Activision Blizzard game to make its way to Game Pass. The first was Diablo IV, which was added at the end of March 2024. It is not yet clear when the other instalments of the franchise will be available on subscription, but the next game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, will be released on 25 October 2024 and will also be included in Game Pass on day one.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III launched on 10 November 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Battle.net. It features the usual mix of single player campaign, multiplayer and zombies (in an open world for the first time). However, the game failed to match the huge success of its predecessor. Activision Blizzard has not yet released official sales figures or revenue milestones. In the United States, Modern Warfare III was the second best-selling game of 2023, behind Hogwarts Legacy. Since 2009, games in the Call of Duty series have topped the US annual charts, with the exception of GTA 5 (2013), Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) and Hogwarts Legacy (2023).
Speaking of Black Ops 6, the upcoming multiplayer beta is also included in Game Pass. The first weekend of the beta is open to players who have pre-ordered the game on all platforms (consoles and PC), as well as Game Pass subscribers. It begins on Friday, 30 August at 18:00 CEST and ends on Wednesday, 4 September at 18:00 CEST. The second beta weekend is open to all players on all platforms, regardless of pre-order status, as well as Game Pass subscribers. It will begin at 18:00 CEST on 6 September and end at 18:00 CEST on 9 September.
