Karlsruhe-based developer and publisher kr3m launched Zaphira Snake at gamescom, a multiplayer snake game that was funded by the German government. At the same time, it also launched its own new gaming platform.

The new portal is aptly named Zaphira Games. In addition to the new Zafira Snake, it also offers classics such as solitaire, sudoku, mahjong, and match-3 puzzles. In line with kr3m's model, most of the games on Zaphira Games are free to play. Users can take out a subscription to play without ads and unlock additional difficulty levels.

With its in-house portal, kr3m is establishing a new marketing channel for its casual games. The company has an extensive partner network and works with traditional newspapers for their digital portals, among others. kr3m offers a highly customized white label gaming solution called Playground.

Zaphira Snake, which received €177,000 in funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research for a project costing almost half a million euros, will initially be launched on the new Zaphira Games portal, but will gradually be offered to kr3m's other partners.
