After six years as Managing Director, Çiğdem Uzunoğlu leaves the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur. In her time, she had quadrupled the foundation's budget and team size. Her farewell will be held in Berlin in May.

After more than six years at the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur, Managing Director Çiğdem Uzunoğlu is leaving the foundation on 31 May 2024. Uzunoğlu has been leading the Stiftung for six years. In her time she has managed to quadruple the foundation's budget by acquiring third-party funding and expanded the team from four employees to 17. An official farewell will take place on 16 May 2024 in front of invited guests in Berlin.

The Managing Director of game - Association of the German Games Industry, which is a shareholder of the Digital Games Culture Foundation, Felix Falk, says: "On behalf of the association, I would like to thank Çiğdem Uzunoğlu for the many years of cooperation. Together with her team, she has significantly advanced the Digital Games Culture Foundation over the past six years. The projects and partnerships that have been initiated have helped to increase the social significance of games and to bring the potential of the medium further into society."

The Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Digital Games Culture Foundation, Olaf Zimmermann, emphasises: "Ms Uzunoğlu has had a decisive influence on the work of the Digital Games Culture Foundation over the past six years. Her commitment to using games in the culture of remembrance as well as democracy and values education is particularly noteworthy. Her work is characterised by commitment, openness and reliability. Unfortunately, Çiğdem Uzunoğlu will be leaving the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur at the end of May 2024. I would like to thank Çiğdem Uzunoğlu for the many years of excellent cooperation."

Uzunoğlu, says: "I am very pleased to have made a contribution to the social recognition of digital games in recent years, especially with regard to the culture of remembrance and democracy education. I would like to thank game as a shareholder of the foundation as well as the foundation's advisory board for the trust they have placed in me and the good cooperation. After more than six years at the Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur, I am now looking forward to my new professional challenges."
