Aztecs: The Last Sun, developed by Play2Chill from Poland, is being released today in Early Access, published by Toplitz Productions. The city builder introduces an original concept: the Blood Shield.

German-Austrian publisher Toplitz Productions is releasing Aztecs: The Last Sun today, 23 September 2025, for PC (Steam, GOG, EGS) in Early Access. The game was developed by Play2Chill, an independent game development studio based in Warsaw, Poland. "The idea is to stay in Early Access for about half a year and use this time to add new regions, mechanics, quality of life features and technical optimization depending on player feedback and game success," the developers said. "For the full version, we aim to enhance the game by introducing new production chains that will boost the economy and add exciting options for the Aztec capital city Tenochtitlan. We also plan to expand the strategic map and develop the storyline further."

Aztecs: The Last Sun is a city-building and survival experience set at the height of a dying age. Players build and expand the city-state of Tenochtitlan on an island in Lake Texcoco using over 25 different types of buildings with individual upgrades. Play2Chill and Toplitz Productions: "Reclaim valuable land, feed your people, raise monumental structures, and maintain vital trade routes that connect your floating empire to the outside world in the Valley of Mexico. Yet beyond these petty struggles looms a far greater threat: the Moon Goddess has declared war upon the Sun, casting a dreadful curse upon your followers. Only blood, spilled through human sacrifice, can summon a shield of protection - but its power is fleeting. How many nights will your people survive before the darkness consumes them?" The game offers a story-driven campaign spanning several acts, which can be played on three difficulty levels - from beginner to survival.
