The partnership between SK Gaming and eSports Cologne e.V. promises synergies for the regional esports scene. Both organisations aim to strengthen esports in the region and create a platform that benefits both professionals and the broader community.

The esports organisation SK Gaming and the eSports Cologne (ECO) club have agreed to work together. The announcement was made at the annual general meeting of the club, which this year took place at SK Gaming's premises. The partnership aims to strengthen the social potential of esports in the Cologne region by combining the broad-based club work of ECO with the professional expertise of SK Gaming.

"What particularly impressed us about ECO was how actively and professionally the club organises itself, and how it is already creating a stronger awareness of the values of esports beyond the region. In addition, ECO does everything it can to promote sustainable public acceptance with numerous small initiatives. We look forward to joining forces with professional and amateur esports and tackling joint projects. This will enable us to do even more to support the development of young people, equal opportunities and diversity. But our goal is also to bring more regional talent into top esports in the near future," says Martin Marquardt, CGO at SK Gaming.

"As a grassroots sports club, we always want to show our members their own potential and support them as best we can. Having SK Gaming as a professional team on our side now paves the way for dedicated players to follow a 'path to pro', a potential career path that we can support them on. In addition, this partnership will allow us to create a professional development space where dedicated individuals can try out different careers on a voluntary basis in order to gain a foothold in the highly competitive job market of the gaming and esports industry. We are very positive about our common future and are very proud to be working together with one of the most successful esports organisations with the longest tradition," said Justin Krug, Deputy Chairman of eSports Cologne.

A special part of the general meeting was the resignation of Marius Loewe, the long-time chairman and co-founder of eSports Cologne. After eight years of involvement in what started as a university project and has now become an established esports club, Loewe handed over the reins to Finn Cyriax, who has already made a name for himself in the club with his return to the board and is keen to continue the project with fresh ideas.
