Kepler Interactive Will Publish PVKK From Bippinbits
PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant has found a publisher: Kepler Interactive, currently enjoying great success with Clair Obscur and the upcoming Rematch. Bippinbits is the first German studio to collaborate with Kepler Interactive.
London-based publisher and creative studio Kepler Interactive has become the publisher of PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant. This planetary defence simulator, with its unique German compound word meaning 'planetary defence cannon commander', is being developed by Bippinbits in Radeberg, near Dresden. This is the studio's second game, following the successful Dome Keeper (2022), a roguelike survival mining game released in collaboration with publisher Raw Fury.
This is the first German game to be published by Kepler Interactive. The publisher enjoyed huge success in April 2025 with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Despite also being included in Game Pass for PC and Xbox, the role-playing game developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive sold over 3.3 million units in just 33 days. According to Metacritic, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently the highest-rated game of 2025. Kepler Interactive is also known for Pacific Drive, which sold one million units in its first year, and Sifu, which has sold over four million units to date. Rematch, a football game scheduled for release in June 2025, has also generated significant interest. During a beta test, the game achieved over 150,000 concurrent users on Steam. Professional partnerships have been established with Marc-André ter Stegen (goalkeeper and captain of FC Barcelona and the German national team), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United and the English national team) and Brazilian football legend Ronaldo 'Ronaldinho' de Assis Moreira. More than 2.5 million players have registered for the open beta of the online football action game, which starts today.
In the following episode of the 'Kepler Creator Series', René Habermann, the co-founder of Bippinbits, sits down with Kepler's Portfolio Director, Matthew Handrahan. They discuss the origins of René's passion for games and how his love of game jams and experimentation led to the creation of Dome Keeper.
On the subject of Mimimi Games, Kowloon Nights - an investment fund for game developers - co-invested in the development of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. Kepler Interactive was founded by Alexis Garavaryan, the initiator of Kowloon Nights. The two organisations share management personnel and work closely together. Since 2023, Kowloon Nights has operated as a financing arm within Kepler Interactive. Following the cessation of operations by Mimimi Games, the publishing rights were transferred to Hooded Horse.
