Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast continue to include their one hit franchise into the other: With cards from the Dungeons & Dragons universe and especially several cards from Larian Games' Baldur's Gate 3, the game & toy company is releasing limited-time trading card sets.

As part of the celebration of Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary, Wizards of the Coast parent company Hasbro is combining two of its products and brands for a limited product release. Baldur’s Gate 3, award-winning roleplay game developed by Belgian Larian Games and the latest video game release in the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, is getting several limited trading cards in Magic: The Gathering. The so called ‘Secret Lair’ drops are only available through Wizards of the Coast directly and not through regular MTG vendors. Five different sets are going to be released, with the characters Astarion and Karlach from the game in the spotlight as well as some other figures and creatures from the wider D&D universe.

"This year is a very special one for Dungeons & Dragons fans. We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this great game than by bringing our two games together," said Mark Heggen, Vice President of Collectibles, Magic: The Gathering. "Each of these Secret Lair Drops represents the legacy and influence of Dungeons & Dragons. It's great that fans of Magic: The Gathering can be a part of this celebration."

"It's always fantastic to see iconic D&D artwork, monsters and characters on Magic cards! These Secret Lair cards capture the essence of D&D and offer fans of both games something truly special for their collections," said Jess Lanzillo, VP of Franchise and Product for D&D at Wizards of the Coast. "Whether you're a D&D fan, a Magic enthusiast, or both, these drops offer a unique way to celebrate these games that have brought joy to fans for decades."

The sets drop on 27 August. The shop pages are currently not online already, but are supposed to go online later in the month.

A non-limited playset of MTG cards with D&D themes had been released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022; these Secret Lair drop mark the second set of cards from the crossover universe brand belonging to the same company.
