UFA Serial Drama and Stratosphere Games Collaborate for Mobile Game
With the early access release of the mobile game The Kingdom: Mittelalter Geschichten (Medieval Stories), developed by Stratosphere Games, UFA Serial Drama is venturing into the gaming market for the first time. The launch is accompanied by a cross-promotion with Instinct3.
Bertelsmann-owned TV production company UFA continues to expand its gaming activities. Just days after unveiling UFAGG (Good Games)—its own label aimed at esports, gaming, and creator audiences—subsidiary UFA Serial Drama has released its first mobile game in early access. The game The Kingdom: Mittelalter Geschichten (Medieval Tales) was developed in collaboration with Berlin-based studio Stratosphere Games, with support from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
UFA Serial Drama, the UFA subsidiary responsible for weekly and daily series, reaches millions of viewers daily with its programmes Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten, Alles was zählt, and Unter uns.
To accompany the early access launch, UFA Serial Drama has also initiated an innovative cross-promotion with the Spandau-based agency Instinct3 and its esports organisation Eintracht Spandau. Agency founder Maximilian Knabe appears as "President Knabe" in the TV series Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten, where he faces off against Jo Gerner, played by Wolfgang Bahro, in a rent dispute. The storyline, which unfolds in the TV series and on social media, ultimately leads Jo Gerner to develop an interest in gaming and enter the gaming business.
"Now it's finally getting serious! More than two years ago, creative minds from UFA Serial Drama got together to talk about a mobile game that could be catapulted out of the GZSZ cosmos straight onto your smartphone. That was the idea. Together with our innovative partner Stratosphere Games, who, like us, tell exciting stories every day, we created our game THE KINGDOM, which is also featured in the series from time to time. I'm very excited to see what feedback the game gets from the gaming community and the series," says Christian Schönfeld, co-producer of GZSZ.
The global launch of The Kingdom: Mittelalter Geschichten is scheduled for the end of August and will be carried out in cooperation with the Poland-based publisher Boombit.
