The Occultist is a first-person exploration game with a psychological horror theme. The game focuses on atmosphere and vulnerability, helping the dead to find peace. It has already received over 30 awards and nominations, including the 2023 Devcom Blockbuster Award.

It is being developed by Daloar (formerly Pentakill Studios), which was founded in 2021 and is built upon years of experience in computer graphics and development. The company's origins can be traced back to the creation of iVisual, which is dedicated to advancing training in 3D technologies and video games. The studio is based in Valladolid, Spain, and employs more than 30 people.

Daedalic Entertainment, which is based in Hamburg, is celebrating its 20th year of publishing. Its portfolio of games covers a wide range of genres, with a focus on storytelling, strategy, cooperative games and family-friendly titles. The team of around 45 people at Daedalic is currently collaborating with several development studios on projects including Bloodgrounds (Exordium Games), The Occultist (Daloar), Woodo (Tiny Monks Tales), the Barotrauma Home & Harbour expansion (FakeFish and Undertow Games), and Surviving Deponia (Daedalic Entertainment and Atomic Torch Studio). Since April 2022, Daedalic Entertainment has been a subsidiary of the French publishing house Nacon, which recently filed for insolvency.

"The Occultist is a dark narrative-rich game in which you'll step into Alan's shoes, a gifted paranormal investigator where the veil between life and death is thrillingly thin. Alan’s father mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind only echoes of the strange stories he told in Alan's childhood. Tales of GodStone, a fictional island where he claimed to have grown up. Compelled by suspicion, Alan sets course for this elusive place. Accompanying him is a family heirloom – a mystical pendulum, the unique artifact in this game, stirring intrigue and awakening ancient powers."
