Kalypso Media is planning to release Commandos: Origins later this year. In order to attract more attention to the title from the well-known franchise, a demo has been released today. The publisher is not waiting for the next Steam Next Fest, which starts next week.

The two German companies Kalypso Media and Claymore Game Studios have released a playable demo of Commandos: Origins. The demo is not only available for PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), but also for Xbox Series X|S. It includes a mission from the latest instalment of the real-time tactics stealth series. Players control the Green Beret and the Marine to sabotage a German radar system in the Channel Islands during WW2. Kalypso Media is releasing the game's demo ahead of the next Steam Next Fest, which takes place from 14 to 21 October 2024. Tobspr Games followed a similar strategy with shapez 2.

Commandos: Origins is scheduled for release in 2024 and will be available on Steam, with Xbox Game Pass on day one for console and PC, as well as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC and PlayStation 4|5. It is the first new game in the Commandos franchise since Commandos: Strike Force in 2006. In July 2018, Kalypso Media acquired the brand rights to the series and subsequently released HD remasters of Commandos 2 and Commandos 3 for PC and consoles.

Commandos: Origins is undoubtedly the most important release of the year for Kalypso Media. It is also the first game from Claymore Game Studios, which was founded in Darmstadt in 2020. Development was funded with €1,532,519 from the German government's computer games funding programme.
