The German Computer Game Award 2026 (Deutscher Computerspielpreis, DCP) will be presented at the Herkulessaal in the Munich Residenz, in the Bavarian capital. On 29 April 2026, numerous guests from the games industry, the media, the cultural sector and the world of politics will come together to celebrate the best games 'Made in Germany'. The awards ceremony will also be broadcast as a live stream. Next year will mark the 18th presentation of the award for the German games industry.

The DCP 2026 will present awards in 15 categories, with a total prize fund of €800,000. From today, development studios and publishers can visit deutscher-computerspielpreis.de to find the information they need to prepare their applications, as submissions will only be accepted during the limited time window from 5 to 23 January 2026. Nominations for the Studio of the Year and Player of the Year categories will be accepted from the entire community from 5 to 30 January. Nominations can be submitted on the DCP website by anyone interested.

The 15 award categories and prize money for 2026

  • Best German Game (€100,000 for the winning game, and €30,000 for each of the two nominees)
  • Newcomer Award for Best Debut (€60,000 for the winning game and €25,000 for each of the other two nominees)
  • Newcomer Award for Best Prototype (€50,000 for the winning game and €25,000 for each of the four other nominees)
  • Studio of the Year (€50,000)
  • Best Family Game (€40,000)
  • Best Game Design (€40,000)
  • Best Story (€40,000)
  • Best Graphic Design (€40,000)
  • Best Audio Design (€40,000)
  • Best Mobile Game (€40,000)
  • Best Serious Game (€40,000)
  • Best Innovation and Technology (€40,000)
  • Gamer of the Year (no prize money)
  • Best International Game (no prize money)
  • Special Jury Prize (€10,000)

This award is organised jointly by the German Federal Government, represented by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, and game, the German Games Industry Association. Funding for the DCP 2026 award ceremony comes from the German Federal Government via the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, as well as from the host state of Bavaria via the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs.
