Epic Games has overhauled its royalty reporting system for Unreal Engine, promising a streamlined process for all developers required to pay royalties. While the criteria for royalty payments remain unchanged, the company is also using the update to highlight its Launch Everywhere with Epic programme.

The key point: the royalty thresholds for Unreal Engine usage have not been altered. For example, Studios whose games have generated more than $1 million in lifetime revenue and continue to earn over $10,000 per month must report their Q1 2025 revenue through Epic’s new royalty programme via the Developer Portal.

According to Epic, all relevant forms and information will now be centralized in one location. Once a game's revenue is entered, excluding revenue from the Epic Games Store, royalties will be automatically calculated. Invoices will be sent separately by Epic Games, and previous royalty records will remain visible in the account. The new system will also send automated reminders for report submissions.

In the same blog post, Epic Games promotes its Launch Everywhere with Epic initiative. Launched on 1 January, the programme offers a reduced royalty rate of 3.5% (down from the standard 5%) to developers who release their Unreal Engine-based titles on the Epic Games Store either simultaneously with or before release on other platforms—including PC, Mac, Android, and soon iOS.
