Over two years have passed since the announcement that Hooded Horse would take over publishing Drill Keeper from ShoulderByte in Hamburg. The release window has now been set for late 2027.
Hooded Horse and ShoulderByte have announced that their roguelike, deck-building, siege defense game Drill Keeper will be released on PC via Steam, GOG and the Microsoft Store in Early Access in Q3 2027. It will also be available on PC Game Pass from day one. This was announced at the recent ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase. The latest trailer reveals updated visuals and a teaser of the new hero faction – the Rotborn.
The game is being developed by solo developer Dennis "Denno" Strümpel (ShoulderByte), who has been working on the game since 2021. Combining roguelike mechanics, deckbuilding, and tower defense RTS gameplay, the game was originally scheduled for launch in 2025.
Hooded Horse: "Unearth untold treasures, delve through fully destructible worlds across the galaxy, and design mining fortresses while defending and modifying the drill between runs to better defend it against relentless alien swarms. Combine and synergize cards, artifacts, and runes to power strategic runs, and extract as much wealth as possible, before each operation is inevitably swallowed by the abyss!"
It will be localised from English into German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
