The calendar year 2025 will be an "inflection point" for Take-Two Interactive. Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for fall 2025, not to forget Mafia: The Old Country and Borderlands 4. The last holiday season was also more than solid.

Take-Two Interactive has delivered 'solid results' for the holiday season, October to December 2024. Net bookings of $1.37 billion (+3%; €1.32 billion) were in line with guidance. NBA 2K 25 was more successful than expected and helped to offset the moderate performance of some mobile franchises. The largest contributors to net bookings were NBA 2K25, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, Toon Blast, Match Factory!, the hyper-casual mobile portfolio, Empires & Puzzles, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online, Words With Friends and Toy Blast.

The GAAP net loss was $125 million (€120 million) compared to $91.6 million in the same period last year. However, guidance was for a higher loss ($177 million to $202 million).

For the current quarter, January to March 2025, net bookings are expected to be in the range of $1.48 billion to $1.58 billion (€1.43 to €1.52 billion), compared to $1.35 billion in the prior year. The release schedule for this quarter includes Sid Meier's Civilization VII, PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K25.

Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive: "We are reiterating our Fiscal 2025 Net Bookings guidance of $5.55 to $5.65 billion, and our outlook for full-year operating performance. While third quarter operating results exceeded expectations, we expect the fourth quarter to be affected by a continuation of current mobile trends, as well the shift of some operating expenses into the period."

"Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4," says Zelnick. He is referring to the calendar year, not the fiscal year. The company continues to invest in its development pipeline and remains confident in Zynga's potential to create new mobile forever franchises like Match Factory. In mobile, Recurrent Consumer Spending grew mid single digits. "While this was somewhat below our plan, we remain highly optimistic about Zynga’s future. (...) Our teams are growing our direct-to-consumer offerings and deploying key learnings across our portfolio. During the holiday season, we achieved strong double-digit DTC conversion in several major titles, and we are taking action to maintain this momentum."

Zelnick: "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business - and our industry - over the long term. As we execute on our mission to create our industry’s most innovative and engaging entertainment experiences, we remain highly confident that we will achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027"

Zelnick had this to say about the Switch 2: "We've had a longstanding relationship with Nintendo and we've supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release. There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. Now with today Switch and potentially Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience. As you may have noticed, Civilization 7 is now available on Switch. While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
